Reasons why I play tennis
I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers
There is no more fun sport in the entire world than the game of tennis. Tennis is a sport that requires diligent practice and focused performance every time it is played. I love to play this game for many reasons.
One, I love to play it because it gives me time out of the house and something to do with my most favorite person in the world, my wife. We have played tennis ever since we started dating back years ago. In fact, one of our first dates was played out on the tennis court. She has always been an ultra competitive player with a fire in her that many cannot match.
I play at our local tennis center. It is a fantastic tennis community. Ten inside courts and ten outside courts with stores that sell tennis equipment and clothing. Sit down cafes are full each day. This is a place for the tennis lover to gather.
Another reason I love to play tennis is that it keeps me in shape. I am able to stay very youthful due to many rounds of tennis each month. And that adds up. But, before I even think about going out to play, I always set my home security alarm from Home-alarm-systems.com.

We Love Watching On Demand TV
This guest post from Alden Strong
In today's society life for me is always fast paced. Between working and must-do activities it seems that there is hardly any time for my family and I to sit around and watch a movie. But recently we have found a way to meet our TV watching needs; we watch movies on Demand on satellite TV from http://www.tvbydirect.com/directv-deal/OHIO-OH-direct-tv.html. By watching movies on Demand we are able to watch them at our convenience. Also if something comes up and we have to stop the movie we can pick it up right where we left off when we find time again to sit down and watch it. Through on Demand TV we are able to browse through categories of movies and shows that fit our interest, unlike regular TV where you only have the choice to watch what is on at the time. We usually record movies and shows that fit within our interest areas and watch them on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights. The cost of on Demand TV is inexpensive and sure beats blowing money on taking out our family to the movie theater. We pay a low monthly price that is usually equivalent to taking our family out only one time to theaters.

Missing My Dad
The Halloween Shopping Expedition
This guest post from Alice Wall
October has arrived. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and Halloween is just around the corner. My house is decorated with Jack-o-Lanterns, witches, skeletons, and other spooky visages. There are horror movie marathons on TV which have been causing me to stay up way past my normal bed time. My favorite holiday is in full swing. The only thing left to do is go costume shopping! Today, a particularly chilly and blustery October Sunday, my girlfriend and I got ready, armed our home security system( ADT Home alarm online offer), and headed to the Halloween Superstore. We both love to dress up and spend Halloween night entering costume contests and painting the town. This year my costume will be Tony Montana from Scarface and she's planning on dressing as a Flapper from the 1920's. We should look like quite the pair! We're looking for a hat to compliment my costume and a fluffy red scarf for hers. After finding what we're looking for, we spend well over an hour pouring over the other merchandise. I even add a couple of items to my already monstrous collection of Halloween decorations.
When we have our fill of shopping, we head back home so we can try on the costumes to make sure things look like we want because you only have one chance to get it right. Once Halloween is gone, it's gone. And so is the Halloween Superstore.

Our Beautiful Princess
Fall along the Deleware River
Written by Shannon Tillman
One of my favorite things to do each fall is with my mom. We would always wait for a perfect fall day when the air is cool, maybe alittle breezy and hop in the car and take a drive to Washingtons Crossing here in Pennsylvania.
We always drive up the river road along the Deleware River. You can see the river the whole drive to Washingtons Crossing just about and watching the river as we drive by is one of my favorite things. I love the Deleware river. I grew up there.
We would spend time driving through the hills looking at the gorgous fall colors in the trees and landscapes while stopping to take photos. Sometimes we would get out and walk a trail or in a field looking at leaves that had fallen down and picking up pine cones so we could craft with them when we got home later. We had alot of great talks along those drives. We also had alot of great laughs.
When we we are not outside taking photos of the great fall scenes we would love to cozy up on the couch with a hot chocolate under some blankets enjoying watching our satellite TV.

Jeopardy!
Guest post written by Sam Farby
Now that we’re retired, Jill and I find ourselves a great deal of TV. Every night around dinner time, we put on Jeopardy and see how many questions we can get right. Jill and I are pretty sharp, so we often times come close with the amount of questions that we answer correctly.
The other week, I told Jill that as a surprise, I got us two tickets to sunny LA. What was even better, I told Jill that instead of sitting around the house, we’d be going to a live taping of Jeopardy! She was absolutely thrilled.
We packed our bags the night before our flight, and stuffed in some shorts and light shirts. I was also sure to bring my new Hearing Aids by Miracle Ear. I didn’t want to miss a single question in the studio audience.
The taping was great! We’re so glad that we made the decision to come out and do something as a couple. Retirement is supposed to be a special time, and we really want to make sure that we do things right.

Why I don't like going to a professional footall game
Post contributed by Fletcher Vargas
If I must, I go to a professional football game. I prefer not to. I'm not a big fan of the crowds. I get jostled around, and it usually involves going into a big city. I understand that there are advantages of going to a professional football game that do not come from watching it on a television set somewhere. The downside of having to put up with all the people irritates me. Sitting in the stands is worse than going to a mall during the Christmas season.
Even though I do not like going to professional football games, I still like to keep up with my favorite team. Modern broadcasting technology makes this an easy process. I can stay out of the big cities and the crowded stadiums. I also avoid paying $5 for a hotdog that probably cost the stadium no more than 50 cents.
Because I am not a fan of going to professional football games, I watch the games on satellite TV frequently. Programs like NFL Sunday ticket(click here for HD channels) help me keep up on all the information I need for my fantasy football league without having to track down all the scores in the papers or on the sports sites on the next day. Not only do I get to do this, no one sees how messily I eat my chicken wings, either.

A good running neighborhood
Guest post written by Carl Spanne
People who just visit New York City don't imagine there being neighborhoods where it's just where people live and not a whole bunch of touristy stuff, but I kind of thought that too before I moved here. It ends up that I moved to a neighborhood where there is no tourist stuff, which is really nice.
I had done a lot of research before I signed the lease to the apartment and moved in, not just about the neighborhood but also about exactly how much money i would spend on living there. I found cleartvbundle.com and signed up for it to save myself a little cash while I was at it too.
I've always been a runner, so I was really excited to get out and explore my new neighborhood through my morning runs. It seems like every time I go on a run I notice something different that I want to chcek out later. But the thing about that is, sometimes itÕs hard to find those things again because when I see them theyÕre more of a blur and farther away than I think.

Winter Clothes For The Precious One
I do love shopping for my little girl. Since she is our first child I want the best for her. I think she is spoiled but that doesn't really matter because we love her so much. But, aside from the jackets / coats I plan on buying some outfits for her too for her church clothes. I will probably include some footwear too since it is getting cold.
I cannot wait to go shopping for her winter clothes. I plan not to buy a bunch because you know how kids outgrow clothes pretty quick. I don't want to make another mistake again in buying a bunch of clothes to the point that she did not wear most of them. I am looking forward for a great buy when I go shopping. But sometimes you do not really worry on the prices that you buy if it's for you precious one.

A Evening at Fort Yamhill
Posted by Gaylord Campbell
We hiked the trail at Fort Yamhill this evening. It is only about a mile long hike with the first half of the trail wheel chair friendly. This is a very historically interesting place having been manned by General Sheridan and his troops as they watched over the western side of the Willemette Valley during the formative years of Oregon.
The Generals house is still standing and the first thing you visit on your hike. On up the hill there are plaques describing what type of building or other use was found in that area. Once on top of the small hill you find this is where the log fort stood and can realize the commanding view that was offered to those on duty there. From the site of the Fort the trail took us past the flag mounted on a whole tall log as it would have been originally, then down into a wooded area that is quite a pretty walk. We even found the calling card left by a bear who had been feeding on berries.
Knowing I had set our home alarm system before leaving we hurried home before our company arrived and tried to enter setting it off and raising the neighborhood watch.

The Princess Palace Bedroom Redesign
Posted by Gaylord Campbell
The little princess has turned three and is ready for some changes in her bedroom. The crib has been gone for a while now and she really loves pretending to be a princess. I wanted to make some changes, but just wasn't sure where to start. So, I went online with clear internet we got at www.cleartvbundle.comto get some ideas of what types of things I could do to redecorate the room.
The room was already a really pretty lavender, so we just added a darker shade and did some of the trim work in the room. Just that made a huge difference. She is always struggling with the closet doors, so we took them off and used a pole for a shower curtain and put it up with cute pink window curtains. Now, she just had to push the curtains out of the way to get to her shoes and clothes.
The biggest change was getting some new furniture and changing the irems she already had. We added different knobs to her dresser and nightstand. Each one is a crown or princess shoe or pretty dress. Then, we got a new table and chairs that is covered with flowers in all kinds of pastel colors. The overall effect is really beautiful. It just looks so feminine and I know that she absolutely loves it.

Car Insurance Made Easy
On the other hand, we also possesses the right to look for a cheaper one. That is one thing we should think twice in my opinion. This is not we only save some money but also making it affordable to every payment. Cheap car insurance does help especially with our economy now. It helps eliminate the burden of higher pay-outs on car insurance.
Today, you can get a quote online for free. This way you would really know your price range and the coverage that fits you. You will not only save money but also you will save time. It will only take a minute to get a quote online. So better check it out and find more cheaper and more convenient car insurance for your household.

Planned trip
I am so looking forward to our trip to Chicago. No definite date yet but for sure we will be there. It is not really a vacation, but to go there and renew my passport as well as getting the little one her Filipino Passport. We plan on traveling this coming October but it is still tentative. I will be working the whole month of October in the haunted house. Yes you heard it right. I got a job to scare people this time..Lol..I think this will be awesome and I am looking forward to it too. Halloween is just around the corner and I have not found my costume yet, but I will be working on that in the following days. But Chicago trip is still on the plan, we just have to know our available schedule for that month. With my schedule and my husband's schedule we really have to communicate to make this trip. Outside of that I am excited as well because next month is our anniversary month, so this trip is also celebrating our 2nd year anniversary.
Have a good day guys!
Fall In Love
Posted by Heriberto Fuentes
My best friend Lauren and I absolutely love our chick flicks. Almost a new one comes out every week and we go and see it. It truly is roommate bonding time for the both of us as we swoon over the male lead in the film and wish we were the woman he was pursuing. Every Sunday night we set the ADT security system in Balcones Heights on our house and head down to the theater in the next town. We choose to go on Sunday nights because they are far less busy than Saturdays and Fridays.
We purchase our tickets and we always sit in the front row. Although it may cause a bit of a neck ache after the film we have found that the closer you sit the more real the picture becomes. If you sit somewhere in the middle or the back of theater you get caught up with what is happening around you. Girls are usually crying and guys are usually rolling their eyes. Kids are very impatient and someone always seems to be throwing popcorn. Sitting in the front eliminates or at least reduces the little aspects of life that pull you out of the movies. Lauren and I go to the movies so we can fall in love all over again.

Secure Your Families Safety On The Road
Winter season is just around the corner. We all know how hard to drive when snow season strikes. It is very dangerous to all drivers as well as very uncomfortable to drive on a slippery road. Regular tires won't really do any good in this season. But no worries because tires for this season is also just around the corner.
Snow chains would best fit for this season. This is a kind of tire that you need especially when dealing on a heavy snow. This will give a very comfortable ride to your destination. This are the kind of tire chains that you need when winter season strike. They are made either out of nickel manganese or nickel manganese alloy that are built in for this kind of season.
They are very easy to install. You might pay a little bit more but rest assured that the products quality is excellent. So do not risk the safety of your family for a cheaper brand. With product you get what want and you get what you have paid for. It is important to protect our family from any kinds of incidents as much as we can.

Mexico's Navarrete is Miss Universe
Ms. Navarrete, dressed in a red gown with a flowing train, impressed judges by highlighting the importance of teaching children about family values.
Runners-up
She was followed by Miss Jamaica Yendi Philipps while Miss Australia Jenista Campbell was the second runner-up at the 59th annual pageant held here on Monday.
Miss India Ushoshi Sengupta (21) from Kolkata did not make it to the top 15; neither did Miss USA Rima Fakih, who had grabbed international headlines for being the first Muslim American to represent the U.S. in the competition.
Asked by Olympic gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek how she felt about unsupervised Internet use, Ms. Navarrete said the Internet was important but parents needed to be careful and watch over their kids.
Ms. Navarrete replaces Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela who won the title in 2009.
As part of her winning, she will get a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy, jewellery, clothes, shoes and an undisclosed sum of money.
“I want to give my parents a big hug. There was a lot of effort and a lot of sacrifice,” she said at a press conference after winning the title.
Second Mexican
Ms. Navarrete has been a model since she was 15 years old and is only the second Mexican beauty after Lupita Jones (1991) to win the title of Miss Universe.
Her win earned her a congratulatory message on Twitter from Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

1 1/2 cups finely crushed graham crackers
1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
3 8-ounce packages of cream cheese
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips, melted and cooled
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine crushed graham crackers and powdered sugar. Blend in melted margarine. Press into the bottom of a 9" springform pan.
In another bowl, combine the strawberries with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar; set aside.
For the filling: Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese with the condensed milk until combined. Add vanilla and eggs. Divide this mixture in half. Add the melted chocolate to one half of the mixture. Pour this (the chocolate batter) into the crust lined pan. Add the strawberry and sugar mixture to the remaining batter. Spoon over the chocolate filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool for half an hour. Remove sides of the pan. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
Garnish with strawberry halves.
I am excited to do it and hopefully I will make it right. This cheesecake makes 16 servings.

Eggs are packed in varying sizes of cartons (6-egg cartons, dozen egg cartons, 18-egg cartons) with Julian dates ranging from 136 to 225 and plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946. Dates and codes can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton. The plant number begins with the letter P and then the number. The Julian date follows the plant number, for example: P-1946 223.
So guys, do check the eggs that you recently purchased. Let us be more cautious of what we buy and eat and good thing they've warned the public about this concern.

Sold Items Needed To Be Shipped
Back to School Shopping
Written by Sonny Quinn
Summer is a fun time, but it passes quickly. By August, school is only a month away, and I have to get school supplies.
I either go out school shopping with a parent, a friend, or my sister. Before I go, I always set my adt safewatch in North Carolina alarm as a precaution.
I think the best place to go school shopping is Walmart because they have everything you need for school. I usually buy the basic essentials. These include notebooks, folders, pencils and pens, a backpack, and binders.
Another place that I visit is Staples. They have a wide range of school supplies that I need. They have five subject notebooks, large binders, staplers, erasers, protractors, graphing calculators, computer paper, and so much more. Although Walmart is my go-to place, Staples has a lot of extra school supplies that I may need.
I also go to Staples because I can get packs of note cards, pens, pencils, and notebooks for a lower price. I tend to be a thrifty shopper, so I try to save as much money as I can. Sometimes the people I go with encourage me to buy more expensive items, but I always stick with what I know best.
Shopping for school supplies is easy when you have nearby stores that have everything you need. When I finish shopping, I'm completely satisfied.

My penchant for Asian horror movies
Guest post written by Walter Baldwin
Some of my favorite movies are Asian horror movies. But I live in America and only know the English and Spanish language so I have to rely heavily on the Internet to learn about upcoming releases.
I also live in a small town so I read a lot of horror movie blogs and stream most movies on Netflix because the only movie theater that we have here rarely plays brand new releases, unless they’re made by Disney or star Will Ferrell. With such little resources, it’s especially important that I find a good internet connection at a good price. I relied on dial-up for a while, but researched satalite internet iowa and came across blue wireless internet. I switched over and have been able to re-watch some of my favorites again at a much better streaming quality like Takashi Miike’s “Audition,” which is probably one of the grossest movies ever. But it doesn’t just rely on gross-out scenes. It truly is scary. My obsession with the region’s horror genre started because of a horror class I took in college and I’ve just found it increasingly interesting since then.

Battle to halt BP oil spill is nearing its end
Today the President has declared the US's largest and most politically embarrassing oil spill near an end as BP said it had reached a "significant milestone" in its efforts to permanently seal the Deepwater Horizon well.
"The long battle is finally close to coming to an end, and we are very pleased with that," said the president, who was strongly criticized for what was initially seen as a slow and weak response as millions of barrels of oil poured into the Gulf of Mexico.
BP said it had completed a process known as static kill, in which heavy mud was pumped in to plug the stricken well, producing a "textbook" result.
BP still faces an as yet undetermined number of compensation claims, which Browner said the government was determined to see it meet. "We are going to continue to ensure that BP is held accountable for the damage that they did, for the economic losses and ultimately for the natural resource damages and all of the restoration that will take place in the Gulf communities and in the Gulf at large." The company also has to settle with the families of 11 workers killed in the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that set off the spill.Going Viral GaGa
Guest post written by Stephanie Noble
I’ve been a Lady GaGa fan for a while and she has amazing videos but I think that no matter what lengths she goes to, her official music videos will never outdo funny fan videos on wild blue broadband internet. But I’m sure that she’s fine with that because she always adoringly refers to her fans as her “little monsters.”
Her and Beyonce’s video for “Telephone” was beyond crazy, almost so much so that it’s overwhelming. But there are so many cute videos of kids acting it out to watch on wild blue internet packages, like one with a little girl that looks like she’s about four years old dressed up in crazy Lady GaGa-esque costumes while adult female dancers dance in the background. Then every time during the chorus she picks up a call on a toy phone from a cute little boy that looks to be the same age.
Then there’s the video of a mom filming her pre-teen son dancing and singing along to the “Bad Romance” lyrics and he knows every move and line!
But the best part about watching these videos is that Lady GaGa has probably watched them all.

Lady Gaga Says "NO" To Sex
Lady Gaga is especially keen on educating women, telling them to keep the courage to choose and make decision related to having sex. Her new concert 'Bad Romance' is going to preach this ideology, a Viva Glam campaign by MAC's AIDS awareness, also propagated by pop star, Cyndi Lauper.
Lady Gaga said that she is single now and prefers to be so because she has no time to be in a relationship because that is not going to make her happy.
The Game Is On - Baseball Time
I mostly watch it on the television but given the chance to watch it live that would be awesome. I know Americans do love this sports and some would really invest on the tickets just to watch their favorite team live. I would love to go in one of the baseball stadiums here in the US and watch my New York Yankees and Kansan City Royals play. Hopefully one day I will be able to afford tickets for me and my husband and just have fun. He is a big fan of baseball too and his teams are Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers.
I might save some money now so that we can afford to buy each of those tickets. I want to purchase for New York Yankees tickets and Kansas City Royals tickets. I know my husband will still go with me if my teams are playing. This is so much fun and I do look forward to it. Since his birthday is coming up, purchasing a Boston Red Sox tickets and Detroit Tigers tickets would be a great gift. I know he will be excited watching his team live on the game and of course I'll go with him.

Prayer Of The Day
AS I have mentioned before, I will share some religious thoughts, prayers, word of God to enlighten our day. For today this is our prayer.
May There Be Peace Within
May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be...
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you...
May you be content knowing you are a child of God...
Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you...
If there is peace there is love and if there is love everybody is happy.

Good Morning
All Time Favorite Snack Treat
This guest post from Norris Beard
Can you picture this? You had a long day at work. You finally make it home to kick your shoes off your tired feet. Now you can plop down on the couch to relax, but before you do you this, go into the kitchen and grab your favorite snack. There is nothing like eating your favorite snack while watching satellite television. What is my favorite snack you ask? My favorite snack to eat while lounging in front of the satellite tv is butter caramel popcorn. I can taste the creamy flavor in my mouth just thinking about it. I first found my favorite snack in my local grocery store one day, but little did I know how much I would fall in love with it. Butter caramel popcorn became an addiction to me and to my luck I was able to find it at the dollar store for a dollar cheaper. So whenever I make a grocery run, I keep my pantry stocked with my favorite snack. Now get your favorite snack and enjoy the show.

Relaxing Moment
Furniture Shopping
Now that we have a very precious baby girl, things are different. We had to remove some of the stuff in our living room to give more space for the little one. One of the things that were moved is our glass top dining table. How I wish we don't have to do that, but we have to. Our computer has to be place somewhere in the corner to really give us more space. In general, we are doing our home improvement for our little.
Yes we did remove some stuff, but also we need new once. Most probably we only need stuff that won't take so much space in our living room. Looking forward to purchase an end table for our couches. As soon as we are done with our cleaning, we will probably know what furniture to purchase for our living room. So it's like the baby has her space and me and hubby has our own space as well.

A loud night owl
Guest post written by Loretta Tate
I’ve always been a night owl but my husband grew up on a farm where he literally had to get up at the crack of dawn to milk cows. I’m not even kidding.
Unfortunately we’re both stuck in our ways and that’s been a problem since we were married 50 years ago. A lot of nights I’ll stay up later than him and watch late-night talk shows in the living room while he’s sleeping in our bedroom. I’ve had a bit of hearing loss over the years and he hasn’t so it’s bothered him some and even waken him up a few times.
This last time he said that there was no need for that TV to be that loud just so I should get a hearing test. I obliged him, really because I didn’t want to hear that sermon again. Although I knew that he was probably right, after all.
So I went in for one and ended up getting a miracle ear hearing aid.
I haven’t stopped watching TV late at night but at least now it doesn’t disturb my husband.

Bad Mood
Deal or No Deal
Posted by Tommie Wells
Deal or No Deal is on satellite tv and is hosted by Howie Mandel. The contestant chooses one of the numbered 26 briefcases for themselves and is kept closed until the end. Each case has a different amount of money inside. The player then chooses briefcases to be eliminated and their amount is revealed instantly. After a certain number of rounds the banker will offer the contestant a deal. The player can accept the deal and thus ending the game or deny the deal and continue playing. The game ends when a deal is made or until all the cases have been opened and the money amounts have been revealed. If a deal is made then they play out what would have happened to see if a good deal was made or not. The banker's offers change each time based on the values left on the board. Usually the offers are low at the beginning of the game but can exceed the average of the remaining values at the end of the game. Very few people have ever won the top prize. It is fun to see the player struggle over whether to take the deal or not. The game can be really suspenseful and you may find yourself yelling at the screen, like I do when watching my team on direct tv Sunday ticket in Dallas, to accept the deal, instead of losing a lot of money.

Quite Busy
Heading to Los Angeles!
Guest blog post from Kayla Larman
Being a college graduate is a reward all by itself, but finally getting out on your own--earning a living and starting a whole new independent life is a gigantic step. I will be moving to LA to follow my modeling career. I have signed with an agency in Santa Monica, CA. I am very excited and look forward to meeting new friends. I have a close girlfriend whom I will move in with, until I can get out to search for my own home. I plan on buying a home near Malibu or Laguna Beach. My parents are loving and caring and want to make sure I am safe. I said that I would let them know my new address, and that no matter which home I chose, I would sign up for Adt security. Home is a big deal to me--it is where you can "breathe" and "be yourself". I am going to decorate with lots of pastel colors and find a home with a good sized yard. I would really like to have an underground outdoor pool.
I will be busy packing after graduation, and driving will be not so much fun--from Minnesota to California. Ouch! When I make the trip I will keep in touch with my friends and family on my cell phone. When I see the lights of LA----Yippee!

Dell, EBay to test Microsoft cloud 'appliance'
Microsoft Corp. is getting some help from eBay Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Dell Inc. and Fujitsu in testing a new "platform appliance" to be used with its new Windows Azure cloud-computing service.
The new "platform appliance" can be used, Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) said, to run a company's Windows Azure service in data centers.
The new platform is being announced Monday at a conference in Washington D.C. It is aimed at businesses who want to use Windows Azure to run hundreds or thousands of computer servers themselves rather than use somebody else's remote data center.
EBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) will reportedly test the platform for its own use, while Dell, Fujitsu and Hewlett-Packard will reportedly test it in their data centers where they will offer Windows Azure to their own customers.
Round Rock-based Dell, the No. 3 computer maker in the world, employs an estimated 16,000 workers in Central Texas.
The Big Bang Theory
Guest post written by Keshia Bowers
When I first caught an episode of “The Big Bang Theory” a few years ago, I instantly fell in love with the four nerdy physicists Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj. I may have a things for nerds, but their awkward hi jinks and interactions kept me tuning in week after week.
I knew that I recognized one of the characters from something else he’d starred in, so I used my wildblue satellite internet to look him up and found out that Leonard played Chevy Chases’s son in “Christmas Vacation.”
Every year my family gets together with another family we’ve been friends with as long as I can remember and eat dinner, exchange presents and watch the classic Christmas movie. I was so excited to realize that he was the same person!
After that I used wildblue texas and rented all of the seasons of the show from Blockbuster’s website on DVD so I could catch up and enjoy the current season even more. I’m c urrently in the process of finishing out the first three seasons, (I’m re-watching the third) in preparation for the new season in September.

5 Common Culprits in Skin Damage
The sun, free radicals, smoking, irritants, and facial expressions can cause skin damage. Find out how to fight back.
Our skin is assaulted by everything from the sun to irritating laundry detergent and cigarette smoke.
And it can show. Wrinkles, redness, and even skin cancer can result. But before you resign yourself to the aging effects of your environment, consider the five most common culprits of skin damage and learn what you can do to avoid them.
- Sun exposure. The sun is the biggest cause of skin damage, says Faramarz Samie, MD, PhD, a dermatologist at Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia. The ultraviolet rays of the sun break down collagen and elastin, which help keep your skin looking plump and smooth. They also affect melanocytes, which can lead to changes in your skin’s pigmentation. The aging effects of the sun eventually show on your skin as wrinkles, age spots (patches of brown spots), and possibly skin cancer.
To avoid the skin damage that can be caused by the sun, dermatologists advise staying out of the sun during the middle of the day when the sun’s rays are strongest, using a broad-spectrum sunscreen — one that protects against both types of harmful ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB — with a sun protection factor of 30 or higher, and wearing protective clothing such as a hat when you’re outside.
- Free radicals. One of the ways the sun damages your skin is through production of harmful substances called free radicals. Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules with a single electron. In short, doctors think that ultraviolet light from the sun can lead to damaged DNA and skin damage, Dr. Samie says. Free radicals may even play a role in the development of skin cancer. They are also the result of exposure to tobacco products or other factors in the environment. Some skin care products contain antioxidants such as vitamins C and E that help to lessen the aging effects that free radicals have on your skin. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, which contain antioxidants, is also good for healthy skin.
- Smoking cigarettes. Overall, the skin of a smoker isn’t as healthy and doesn’t heal as well as a nonsmoker’s skin. It also has a tendency to wrinkle easily. That’s because smoking cigarettes causes all of your blood vessels to constrict, or get more narrow, including the vessels that feed the outer layers of your skin, says J. Greg Brady, DO, a dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon at Advanced Dermatology Associates in Allentown, Pa.
When you smoke, your skin gets less of the oxygen and nutrients it needs to stay healthy, and that leads to wrinkles. In addition, smoking causes elastic fibers in the skin to thicken, which means your skin won’t snap back into shape as well and you can experience sagging, Dr. Brady says. “The more you smoke, the more likely it is to happen,” he explains. “If you smoke two packs a day and you’ve done it for 20 years, you have a 40-pack history.” The bigger that number, the more skin damage you’ll see.
Nicotine gum, inhalers, lozenges, nasal spray, and patches can all help you quit, along with prescription medications such as Zyban (bupropion), Chantix (varenicline), Aventyl (nortriptyline), and Catapres (clonidine). Talk to your doctor about the best option for you.
- Irritants. Chemicals in cleaning products and laundry detergent can cause red, irritated skin and allergies in people who are susceptible, Samie says. Ammonia and bleaches have a tendency to irritate skin. These chemicals may cause contact dermatitis, which is scaling and irritation, and sometimes even a chemical burn. People with more sensitive skin will experience more skin irritation than others. There are also more than 3,000 substances in our environment that can cause allergies.
The easiest way to protect your skin from irritants is to avoid contact, either by wearing gloves when you clean or do dishes or by switching to less irritating products. Also, moisturizing your skin can help. Some people may need an antihistamine or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment.
- Smiles and frowns. It’s a simple fact that as you age your skin loses it elasticity and doesn’t snap back into place after you make facial expressions the way it did when you were younger, Samie says. As a result, your skin will show wrinkles even when you’re not frowning or laughing.
The Right Way To Introduce Your Child To The Internet
Guest post written by Daniel Kilten
There's nothing scarier than thinking about the terrible things that might happen when your child starts using the internet. We all know the horror stories and the awful people who are out there waiting for a young person to prey on. Instead of running from this reality, however, the best way to deal with this situation is to make sure your child understands the benefits and risks that come along with using the satellite wireless internet. They also need to understand the fact that you have to be able to trust them when they go online. If you lay this foundation, your children will have a better chance of using your hughesnet packages safely and effectively.
Just like life, you have to help your children understand that there are good and bad people in the world. Their best bet for staying safe is to remain in areas where they are comfortable. They would not, for instance, get into a car they did not recognize. Compare this to going to a site that they are not familiar with. Stress to them that if they have any questions or concerns about an area on hughes wireless internet, they should come to you for information. That way, they won't end up on any sites where they could possibly be targeted by a predator. This is one of the most important aspects of the internet to make your child aware of.
