Hair Treatment Today

For how many months since I had my hair cut, I had it today. The original plan was just to trim it down but when I looked at it, I was kinda bothered that it was so dry and looks messy..Lol.. So I decided to have a hair treatment specifically hair straightening. Yes for over a year, I had it again. The last time I had a hair treatment was before I left the Philippines. I was happy with the outcome though but how I wish I didn't cut it short..Lol..Oh well, it will grow back anyway..Have to get it done before I deliver the baby because I know my world will be so busy when the baby gets here..Hehehehe!!I feel better though and has that light feeling in my head..Lol..

CoooooooooLLLLLLLddddddddd go away!

It's been how many days now since I've been dealing with my cold. It is terrible, especially in the morning. I can't breathe sometimes and it's just giving me a hard time. My eyes are watery and I kept sneezing from time to time..Oh No!!..Probably the weather has something to do with it. Good thing I am not running a temperature though but it's just so uncomfortable. I am not really taking any for this but water. This might (water therapy) help I guess and it's hard to take something especially if your pregnant. Oh God please help me and hope this cold will go away soon.

With my pregnancy, I am on my 34th week now. Yeah the time is getting closer and I am experiencing those uncomfortable feeling everyday. I am having a hard time getting up in bed, sit down, put my socks on or even taking a shower. Oh pregnancy! Leg cramps is killing me as well as lower back pain. Wheewww!! Hope things will get better soon and I cannot wait to deliver our baby hehehehe..especially now that I am experiencing terrible things with this pregnancy..Wheeww!!!drives me crazy sometimes...Lol..Oh well it won't be long now and the baby will be here and for sure I will be busy taking good care of her and my hubby. Hope you guys had a wonderful day and have a great evening.

Save The Holiday With A Perfect Gravy On The Table

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Club House. All opinions are 100% mine.

Christmas is almost here and people are very busy doing their last minute shopping for the holidays. But what's really with Christmas that people has this adrenaline rush and wanted things set up before the holiday hit. Well, Christmas is a tradition celebrated in every corner around the world. It is to pay respect to our Lord Jesus Christ upon coming into this world. We give gifts, do community service for the others and prepare a bunch of food. This is what excites me during Christmas - the food and the gifts. Back home ( Philippines ) we woke up in the middle of the night to celebrate Christmas. My mom would prepare a lot of food for us to eat after midnight. I miss it though and how I wish were back home ( my husband and I ). Truly the saying goes "there's no place like home" is very accurate. I miss the celebration we always have in my country but I know someday, my husband and I together with our precious daughter will be celebrating Christmas again in the Philippines. Speaking of food, people prepare different kinds of food during the holiday. Name it and you have it. The most popular is the ham and of course the stress point of every food - gravy. A gravy could be yummy if it's cooked right and the right ingredients are all there. But if there's one missing ingredient, your food could be messed up. Would you allow that to happen during the holidays? Of course not. Well, to perfectly do the right one, you can go to gravy tips video. This is a step by step procedure in making the perfect gravy for the holiday. This video is provided by Club House that came up with a club house gravy mix. Using this mix, Christmas meal is as easy. You can also join on the ongoing newsletter sign-up and contest entry this year. Hurry up and be part of it.

    Big Fan Of Judge Judy

I'm sure a big fan of her. Judge Judy Sheidlin. She is amazing and very intellegent. I like the way she rule her court room. Sometimes she's funny and sometimes she's being nasty. Excuse me by the word but she does from time to time especially if the plaintiff and the defendant get on her way..Lol..The famous line that I like is "ahhh" is not an answer..Hehehehe..I so love that. I will even tell my husband, don't be like Judge Judy if he starts interrogating me..Lol. I always watch her shhow from Mondays through Fridays on CBS. I've learned some legal aspects from her show and it amazing how she makes good rulling.

    Found A Permanent Solution

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Woodstream. All opinions are 100% mine.

A week after I got here in the United States, the first thing I saw were squirrels in the front yard, raccoons on the side road ( they were dead) and rabbits at the back yard. At first I was very amazed with these creatures because I have not seen them in my country ( Philippines ). Well, not with the rabbits though because we also have rabbits over there. I got a close up look of the squirrels and raccoons one day and I was astounded. I don't know but probably the feeling of seeing them the first time made me so fascinated about them. Yes, they are so adorable at first but on the later part of the year, they become disturbing and threatening. Squirrels starts eating the bird seeds for our birds and the nasty smell of a dead raccoon starts circulating in our vicinity. I did not know they could create such mess in our property and it does bothering. Did a little research for a solution and stumbled on a website. I came across Havahart website and they have all the information we needed to a permanent solution. Upon reading the details in their website, Animal Trapping Tips was highlighted. I can't believe to what I've read and the solutions they have provided. I was very astounded with the different tips they gave such as Havahart Easy Set Large Animal Trap as well as Havahart Easy Set Small Animal Trap. Wow! never in my mind that the process is so easy but I'm sure glad I got stumbled in their website and found a permanent solution to our problem.

    Feeling Crappy

I really feel crappy today. Well, since last night I guess. My sinuses are running. My head is like spinning and really got a bad headache last. I was up til 2am because I was feeling uncomfortable, hot and just can't sleep. Wheeww!.. I don't know, I just feel like I am going to get sick anytime. Oh I hope not. Right now I am feeling so weak and just wanted to get some rest and sleep. Will do though in a while. My eyes were also tired. Have no idea why. Maybe because I've read to much last night or were just tired of trying to get some sleep..Wheewww!

    Ambitions

One of my ambitions before was to become a business entrepreneur. My dad use to tell me that I was very business minded and at a very young age I started learning how to handle a business. Yes at a very young age, I was able to put up my own mini store in front of our house. My father had helped me built my mini store and from then on, I got very interested to have a business on my own. I took Business Management major in Management Accounting in college. I wind up working in a motorcycle dealer when I graduated. It was way to far from the interest that I have started when I was young. I still have that fashion of being a business entrepreneur and I know one day I will have my business on my own. I am so looking forward into it though. Right now I can't see any progress on my investments yet but time will tell when it get started and I can't wait to see the result.

    Christmas At The Church

We had a great Christmas dinner at the church last night. Everyone was there and were sharing their best Christmas ever. I didn't get to tell mine because I got shy but to me, most of my Christmases are memorable especially when I met my husband, that was the most wonderful gift I've ever had and the best thing ever happen to me. And this years Christmas is a lot more meaningful for both of us because we are expecting our first child. She is very precious to us and can't wait to see her soon.

Everyone at the church had so much fun last night. The foods were great as usual and everyone just gathered up and chit chat. After our dinner we also had a baby shower for Ms. Karen's daughter. She was so surprised and so thankful of what the church did. But that's all Christmas is all about. Sharing and giving. I will be next in line on this baby shower thing..Hehehehe..I am excited at the same time anxious for this pregnancy to be over and see our baby..

    Have a blessed Christmas everyone!

    Finally Purchased The Books

As I've mentioned earlier that I am planning to purchase the twilight book series - all 4 of them, for my husband this Christmas. Yes, I finally purchased the books this morning. Kinda sad and happy feeling though. Why? Sad because I was late on purchasing the books which is a lot more cheaper if I purchased them yesterday. But happy because it was on only 5 bucks additional for my purchase..Lol..Oh I can't wait to receive the books and mail it to my husband on the boat. Hopefully he will like the books and will enjoy reading it.

We loved watching it and can't wait to buy the 2nd dvd which is the new moon. Having said so, my husband starts talking about the book. He was like, the movie is great, now what more with the book series. He likes to read and he said the book is a lot more detailed on there stories compared to the movie..Lol..Well honestly, I am very lazy in reading but I just thought of buying him the whole series of the book. I might read it too because I was very fascinated with the movie itself..Lol. I already found the cheapest price I could get..Hehehehe..These are brand new and hard cover book series of the twilight. I hope he will like it because he has no idea that I am buying him another gift for Christmas..Hehehehe..I can't wait to purchase this books and can't wait for my hubby to receive them.

When I hear the word " vacation" I always think about going to Hawaii because a lot of people have proven that this place is awesome and a paradise. Hearing this comment, encourages me more to visit Hawaii, particularly Maui Resort . I have heard so much about these resort. In fact, I want to fly there right now. I have even seen videos of Maui Weddings and man I tell you, the ambiance is so romantic and suites best with the occasion. Just looking at it will make you think of the things that will happen after the wedding. Well I am talking about the honeymoon stage and I tell you this place is perfect. Docs Appointment

My husband and I had a little travel today. We had to go to Jackson Mississippi ( about 2 hours away from the house ) particularly at the VA. He had a doctors appointment today and so far things went well. We are still waiting on the results on his lab work and we are hoping everything is well. We are both tired tonight and we told each that we will a massage..Heheeheh..That would be a nice treat for a long day of travel. Wheewww!!!We will be going to bed shortly after his football game and after doing the stuff that I needed to do in my computer. Tomorrow we will have another appointment again but this time, it's within the area. It is my OBGYN's appointment and it will be in the afternoon. Hopefully things goes well too. Wheeww!!! Sit Back And Relax - Have A Drink

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Jones Soda. All opinions are 100% mine.

Oh the joy of football season. We wait on it, then dread it ending. We break out our jerseys and stories of our own great careers in high school. Teaching the art of yelling at the referee to our children and our wives. Making sure we have plenty of snacks, see we do not have to leave our chairs as we set there and tell these overpriced coaches where the messed up.

Yep that's us, the armchair quarterback we never have a bad pass unless we drop the chips and now Jones Soda will allow you to drink seahawk sodas in three different flavors.

That's right, you can get cream soda, green apple, or even berry lemonade. The seahawk fans should be excited but what about the rest of us. Myself being a New England fans, what about berry brady or for my other team ben root beer or even totally orange troy. Gee these could be fun limited edition collection sodas for the fans. The hardest part would be keeping them on the shelf.

The ultimate fan gift even Christmas presents will be easier with these. So if you are looking for the perfect gift for me, wait til they come out with the saintly strawberries. If you have some of your own, let me hear them.

Snow - The Second Time Around

    It's True

This lady named Cathie Jung has a 15 inches waist line. Wow! Unbelievable. I may go on a strict diet but I would never achieve a 15 inches waist line..Lol..But she wasn't really on a diet but a victim of The Large Hadron Collider's . She is called the queen of corset. Here's what a corset looks like and the effect.

The corset, if you're one of the small percentage of our readership not wearing one right now, was meant to suck in a woman's problem-areas with the small side effect of cutting off all circulation between their legs and head.

The result was not so much an hourglass figure, but a body that became an actual hourglass. Queen Maud of Norway was famous for her very small waistline, and many of her gowns are still exhibited so everyone can view their beauty and not-at-all freakishness.

    How It Could Kill You:

The act of donning a corset didn't actually become truly dangerous until people started tight lacing them to the point that their insides were squeezed like a toothpaste tube.

Unsurprisingly, when tight lacing was fashionable people didn't breathe very well. With their liver in their throats and their lungs in their bellies, Victorian women invented "the heaving bosoms." Breathing the wrong way in one of these things could break a rib (a serious injury in the days before anesthesia) and cramming all of the organs inwards could cause internal bleeding. Female impersonator, Joseph Hennella, was doubly unfortunate when, in 1912, he first collapsed on stage as the result of the tight lacing from his corset, and then when The New York Times wrote the part about what killed him, they said it was his "increasing girth."

In 1903, a woman died suddenly due to two pieces of corset steel that became lodged in her heart. Yeah, when your outfit fucking stabs you to death, it's probably a sign that you've made a bad fashion decision.

Check this out Wyoming corporation too.

    Does It Exist?

Wow! Unbelievable. Does this thing even exist? Oh my God! What on earth was wrong with this creature. A chicken head with a dog body..It is scary to if this really exist. Made me so curious though. How was this even made. Well, with our technology today this is possible. Probably they did it through artificial insemination but still unbelievable to come up with this process!

    Astounded

I was browsing the web and I was astounded by this image. Wow!..I never thought that there's such a thing as big as this but it does exist. Just imagine how much meat you will get from this fish..lol. I am not sure what kind of fish is it because I just grab the photo and wanted to share it to guys. But for sure it's edible I guess and boy by just looking at it, it seems so heavy. The fish is just as tall as the man underneath..Lol..I wonder if he could manage to breath with a huge fish on top of him..

I try to pay our bills on time, although we end up no extra money anymore to do something for ourselves, it's fine as long as bills are paid off..lol..Well it's true, I prefer staying at home with my husband with a peace of mind from the notices you receive rather than go out of town and when you get back home notices are stock up..Hehehehehe..Oh well, our economic situation is really affecting everyone and all we can do is make the best out of it.

Getting Rid Of Rats Around The House

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Victor® Rodent Control. All opinions are 100% mine.

What do you feel when you see a rat? Scream, run or do you just totally ignore it? If it's me, I would definitely scream and at the same time I will run away. Rats are so annoying and they do not belong in the house, especially my house. To me, if a rat is living in my house, it must be because my house is dirty or because I live in the country. Either way my family is in danger. We all know that rats carry different diseases. Lately, I have been disturbed and alarmed by noises that I have heard coming from the attic. I was not sure what they were, til asked dad and he said that they were rats. Oh my God! I was getting goose bumps and having a hard time trying not to worry about it. The Good Wife

Oh my God I so love this show since it was aired on CBS 2 every Tuesday. Alicia is such a good actress and a junior associate as she portrait on the show. The show is the new hit drama on television right now. I really like her attitude though. A very strong, determined and smart woman. Here's some of the buzz..

Alicia Florrick is a good wife, but that doesn't mean she is never attracted to other men. With her cheating husband in jail for corruption, who could blame her if she indulges in a little flirting? In this episode, Alicia becomes attracted to her handsome co-counsel (Chris Bowers) and his unorthodox approach to their case, which is defending the daughter of one of the firm's partners.

    Excitement, Nervous,Mixed Feeling

Lately I have been experiencing this "uncomfortable" feeling. Well part of pregnancy I guess. I experienced a very mild to dull abdominal pain. Back pain which is very annoying at times. I think I am experiencing this so called " Braxton Hicks" right now. Oh well, I just have to deal with it but sometimes it just so frustrating because I am not use to it and the feeling of not being comfortable makes it so hard for me to do things around the house. Wheewww! I am on my 7th month of pregnancy now and things are really getting closer. I am excited at same time nervous. Well not only me though but my husband as well. I am excited because soon we will be able to hold and see our little one. I am nervous because I have lots of questions running around my mind. Lots of "what if" are build up everyday..lol.. Can I do it? What's the feeling when your there? Can we survive? Wheewww! Those are just some of the questions though. But I will do my very best on the day that I will deliver our baby. I also have this feeling or should I say "mother's instinct" that I will deliver our baby sooner than my due date. My doctor said that my due is on February 9, 2010 but I think I will deliver our baby around 3rd week of January or last week of January. I don't know but I just have that feeling though. Well, we just have to wait. I am also praying that my husband could make it on the day I deliver. What I mean by that is, he works offshore and most of the time they are in Texas which is 10 hours drive to get to the hospital..wheewww that's quite a long drive for him and I know he wants to be there with me so bad and so I am. I know God will let the two of us experience the greatest gift our lives, our baby girl. We are really excited seeing her soon.

    Commemorating The Veterans Day

Today, we are celebrating the day for the Veterans. But what's really the history of Veterans Day?

It was known as "the War to end all Wars". The first world war is considered today as the event which has had the greatest social and political impact in the annals of human history. It has been estimated that more than 61.5 million soldiers from all nations took part in the war, of which 8.5 million were killed, 12.5 million received recoverable injuries, and 7 million were permanently injured. The United States, which entered the war late, suffered among the fewest losses, at approximately 116,000. Nevertheless, the impact the war had upon Americans was great. President Wilson, who boasted that he would keep the United States out of the war, shocked the country with his request for war. November 11, 1918 marked the official end of the war. One year later, President Wilson proclaimed November 11, 1919, as "Armistice Day". It was the first nationwide commemoration of the war. On November 11, 1920, England laid to rest an unknown soldier in Westminster Abbey, a way to commemorate their losses in the war. France had carried a similar act the same year at the Arc de Triomphe. On November 11, 1921, the United States followed-up...Read More

Britney Spears in Australian 'lip-synching row'

When she arrived in the country last week, a Sydney newspaper ran a front-page story complaining that Spears would not be singing live during 15 two-hour concerts on her tour. The issue set online comment boards alight with indignation, and Virginia Judge, the New South Wales minister for Fair Trading, poured further fuel on the fire by saying Australians would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse" performance by Spears. Ms Judge even suggested that concert tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of concerts were pre-recorded and mimed. Then came reports that scores of fans had "stormed out" of the Perth performance, angry that the star was miming. Fans reportedly said the stage show was "boring", "stiff", and "lacklustre". The furore has incensed Paul Dainty, Spears's tour promoter. "It's the biggest lie I've ever heard. I'm so angry," he told the Australian newspaper. "We can take heat if there's something wrong and people can review shows badly – that's something you have to live with – but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication." Dainty said Spears had been traumatised by the negative coverage. "Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it. "She's a human being. I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting." Dainty said it was incorrect to suggest that fans had stormed out of the show as early as the third song after paying between $200 to $1,500 to see the 27-year-old singer who has rebuilt her career after a high-profile meltdown. Before her world tour started in March to promote her sixth studio album, Spears had only done a handful of live concerts in recent years as her personal life ran out of control. This included stints in psychiatric care, an ugly divorce, losing custody of her two sons and shaving her head. Dainty said it was well known that part of the Spears concert was lip-synched and blasted any inference that this was hidden. "It's been all over the internet for nine months," he said. "This show is about an incredible spectacle, which it is." Spears' manager Adam Leber took to Spears' Twitter account to defend the singer to her 3.7 million followers. "Its unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did." he wrote. The management from the Burswood Dome in Perth, where Spears' show was staged, told local reporters that they had not received any complaints from the 17,000 people who were at the show. A similar number attended Spears' show the next night as well. Thousands of fans flooded Spears' personal website and Twitter to congratulate her on her comeback, describing her Perth performances as "amazing", "awesome" and "brilliant". The tour continues in Melbourne on Wednesday.

What Pregnant Women Need To Know About Swine Flu - Risks, Statistics, Prevention and Vaccination

This was sent to my email and I would like to share this to everyone especially to all pregnant women.

A pregnant woman who suspects that she might have swine flu should call or see her doctor immediately. In fact the CDC even advises that pregnant women should call their doctor if they've been in close contact with anyone who has swine flu.

Facts about Swine Flu in Pregnant Women

    • Up until mid-October 2009, 6% of swine flu related deaths in the US have been in pregnant women.
    • Pregnant women have also been hospitalized more as a result of swine flu compared to the general population.
    • Pregnant women given seasonal flu shots in a recent study passed the positive effects of immunization to their unborn child, significantly reducing flu sickness in babies younger than 6 months.
    • The new H1N1 vaccine for pregnant women is currently undergoing trials to determine its safety. So far flu shots have not been deemed harmful for pregnant women.

Why are Pregnant Women at Higher Risk from Swine Flu?

Pregnant women are a high-risk group for swine flu complications because the illness may cause complications such as pneumonia and premature labor. A woman's immune system may be somewhat weakened during pregnancy, making her more susceptible to illness in general. And anything that causes a pregnant woman distress may ultimately cause fetal distress as well.

How Can Pregnant Women Prevent Getting Swine Flu?

The precautions for pregnant women are the same as for the rest of the population. The top things to do for prevention are:

    • Regularly and thoroughly wash hands
    • Avoid contact with people infected with swine flu
    • Get a flu shot

Are Swine Flu Vaccinations Safe for Pregnant Women?

The first step in swine flu prevention is protection. Pregnant women can significantly reduce their chances of contracting swine flu by getting an annual flu shot. Flu shots for the current strain of the H1N1 flu virus are expected to be available by October 2009 for the flu season lasting through February 2010.

Pregnant women should consult with their doctor to schedule a flu shot as soon as one becomes available in their region. The CDC advises pregnant women to get two vaccinations: a seasonal flu shot combined with the H1N1 (swine flu causing) flu shot. Taken together they are more effective in protecting pregnant women and their fetus from flu-like illness. Both flu shots are regarded as safe for pregnant women to take.

What Should Pregnant Women Do if They Have Swine Flu?

The best course of action for an infected pregnant woman is to stay at home, avoid infecting others, and call or see her doctor right away. The doctor will most likely put her on anti-viral medication such as Tamiflu or Relenza. If she has a fever, she can take acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol). A typical course of anti-viral medication runs for 5 days and can be taken anytime during pregnancy. It has not shown to have any harmful effects on the growing fetus.

    We're Having A Baby Girl

I have not posted this one yet but I had my OBGYN's appointment last October 26, 2009. They did a sonogram for the baby gender. The husband was there as well as my mother in law. The result was were having a baby girl..Whheeeeh!..So exciting and it get's me more excited when I see the excitement of my husband about the baby. I love watching him when he talk to the baby. I love watching him when he buy stuff for the baby and I love the feeling that my behalf is very excited..Our baby's name would be " Adelie Mae Erro Eaton". My hubby love my name so he wanted to use it on our baby's name which is fine with me. In fact "Adelie" is my grandmother's name. I was named after her because I was the first born child of the only boy in the family which is my father. "Mae comes from my husband's side. It is the middle name of his mom's side and been used from generations to generations. "Erro" is my family name when I was still single. Here in the states it uncommon to have two names but to our baby we will be following the filipino tradition which happen to be the middle name of the mother's maiden name.

Here is a Swine Flu Update: Makes sense to keep in mind.

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

    1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

    2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

    3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

    4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at using a Neti pot, but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton swabs dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

    5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C. *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

    6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Old Yankee Stadium in shadow of new park, sits out first Yankee WS since ?23

As the No. 4 elevated train pulls into the 161st Street station in the Bronx, it passes by the original Yankee Stadium. Hardly a rider notices. The home to exactly 100 World Series games and nine clinchers for the Yankees stands ignored, just across the street from its glitzy, new US$1.5 billion replacement. "I did the first few times I came. I thought about then," former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said in an interview with The Associated Press before Game 1 of the Series. "Once I'm here, I don't anymore. Destined to be taken down piece by piece, the 86-year-old Yankee Stadium is a shell of itself, wrapped in scaffolding, construction netting and a blue plywood wall at street level. Take a sliver of a peek into the park from the 4 train, peer through a hole in the fence on River Avenue or look inside from the plaza across 161st Street and you'll see the place has been stripped of its memories. The nearly 56,000 blue seats are gone, leaving tiers of exposed concrete. The padding that covered the right-field wall where little Jeffrey Maier reached over and coaxed a flyball into a home run for Derek Jeter in the 1996 American League championship series is gone, too. The mound where Mariano Rivera saved 15 playoff games. Flattened. The perfectly manicured lawn has been cut up. All that's left is a mound of dirt piled high near the visiting dugout, weeds growing wildly. The batter's eye black area in centre field where Reggie Jackson sent one of his three home runs bouncing in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series, is faded and greying. And the soaring yellow foul poles have been toppled. "It is sad when you think about everything that's gone on over there, but this is everything we had hoped for," Yankees veteran Andy Pettitte said. "When we built this new stadium we hoped to be able to bring a World Series here."

Microsoft Strikes Search Deals With Twitter, Facebook

Microsoft has reached collaboration agreements with Twitter and Facebook to get their members' public status updates and messages indexed and presented in useful ways on the Bing search engine. Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of Microsoft's Online Audience Business, made the announcement on stage at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. The partnership with Twitter has it working with Microsoft to optimize how Bing crawls and indexes "tweets." Microsoft in turn will apply search algorithms to the Twitter messages, so that Bing users will not only be able to see a real-time feed of "tweets" but also rank them by how relevant they are to their query, Mehdi said. "This is a big deal we've been working on for a long time," Mehdi said. To rank "tweets" by relevance, a feature Microsoft calls "Best Match," Bing will take into consideration a number of factors, such as who are the authors of the messages based on a "social relevance" score Bing will assign to them, Mehdi said. Bing will also evaluate the message's quality, noticing, for example, if it contains a link to an online article or Web page. It will also take into consideration how popular the message is by calculating how many times it has been "re-tweeted" by others. In addition to providing links to Twitter messages, Bing will extract the URLs of the pages that the messages are making reference to, so that users can go directly to that source of the information. When providing links to "tweets" that contain a shortened URL, Bing will put in parenthesis the main Web domain of the link, so that users know, before clicking, whether it's a reputable site and thus avoid landing in a malicious phishing or malware-laden site. Bing will also display a tag cloud of the most popular Twitter topics, so that users can click on and dive deeper into them. The Twitter deal is nonexclusive, so Twitter can strike similar agreements with other search engines. However, for now, Bing is ahead of Google with an optimized search experience for Twitter that is already live. Although Google remains by far the most popular search engine, Microsoft is making a big push to improve its position in this market, starting with Bing's launch in May and the broad search deal with Yahoo, which is awaiting regulatory approval. In addition to its core microblogging and social networking features, Twitter has emerged as a repository of real-time testimonies on whatever is on people's minds, such as news stories of global importance, celebrity gossip and hot-button issues. As such, being able to capture, analyze and make sense of Twitter's stream of posts is seen as an important new area in the world of search engines. "We're super happy with the Twitter partnership," said Qi Lu, president of Microsoft's Online Services Division, who was also on stage being interviewed by conference moderator Tim O'Reilly. Lu declined to disclose financial details of the deal. He also said he wasn't sure on its duration. Neither Mehdi nor Lu said much about the Facebook arrangement, other than to indicate that it will be similar in nature to Twitter's but that it will be implemented at a later date. It will be interesting to see what shape the Facebook agreement takes, considering that Facebook allows individual members to make only basic profile information available via search engine results. Facebook has indicated it may let members make their profiles open to anyone on the Web, including their status updates, but that hasn't happened yet. Twitter, on the other hand, is a much more open service and most of its users make public their "tweets," messages that can't be longer than 140 characters. Microsoft and Facebook have an existing partnership through which Microsoft provides Web search and search ads to Facebook.

    Microsoft bets on Windows success

Speaking at the official launch of Windows 7 in London, Microsoft executives said they had listened to consumers and delivered a more streamlined, feature-packed system. It follows widespread criticism of predecessor Vista. Windows 7 faces stiff competition from rival operating systems and new ways of storing applications. In the UK, the software giant will tie up with Sky to offer its on-demand Sky Player service. It will allow consumers to watch a range of live and on-demand TV programmes via the Windows Media Center, which is included in most editions of Windows 7. Microsoft's UK managing director Ashley Highfield said Windows 7 marked a "new dawn in Microsoft's relationship with the consumer". "Windows 7 is much more than a collection of new features. We have listened to what consumers want and they want something that makes their lives easier," said Mr Highfield. The operating system has already been in beta testing among eight million official users, and a farther seven million unofficial testers have also used it. The software giant used one billion data sessions to find out how people navigate with Windows; information such as how many times people visit the start menu - around 12 times per session - and how many windows they have open at any one time - between two and seven is the average. So far Windows 7 seems to have had a good reception. According to electrical retailer DSGi, which includes UK high street brands PC World and Currys, there have been more people buying pre-ordered copies of Windows 7 in the last three weeks than for the whole first year of Vista sales. "It hasn't taken Microsoft to hype it up, the blogosphere is saying it is a good product," said Jeremy Fennel, a director at DSGi. Some 60% of consumers surveyed by DSGi said they were holding off buying a new PC or laptop until Windows 7 was launched. Often-used applications can be dragged into the taskbar and users can view a thumbnail shot of all the windows they have open. Microsoft has acknowledged that the Windows pop-ups that interrupt users are "rude". With Windows 7 users can customise how and when they view such pop-ups. There is also a feature that allows users to "snap" two windows together to make reading and comparing easier and a facility that allows all open windows to be minimised at the shake of a mouse. The software giant has decreased the amount of time the system takes to boot up and has improved battery life and reduced memory - an acknowledgment that many people will want to use Windows on laptops rather than desktops. For Internet Explorer 8, which is installed in the new operating system, there are improved security features including Smart Screen Filtering, which intercepts suspicious downloads and warns users that they are unsafe. There are also offered improved services in add-ons such as Windows Live Photo Gallery and Movie Maker. Windows still runs on 90% of the world's computers but it is a internet-dominated landscape that Windows 7 enters. It has led commentators to suggest that Windows is becoming an irrelevance. More and more applications are being written for so-called cloud computing - which supports popular apps such as web-based email and social networks in data centres rather than on individual computers. It is an area Microsoft is keen to exploit and last year it unveiled its own cloud computing service called Azure, dubbed "Windows for the cloud". Windows also faces stiff competition from free operating systems, such as the Linux-based Ubunto system which launches its newest version next week and arch-rival Google's Chrome OS. Many though remain loyal to the Microsoft universe and for those wishing to upgrade from Vista, the software giant has promised a "seamless" experience. It acknowledged that upgrades from older operating systems might be "more difficult." "XP has been on the market for ten years so we recommend that people wait until they are ready to purchase a new PC or do a clean install," said Julie Larson-Green, Microsoft's vice president of user experience. Some experts cautioned against rushing out and buying it. John Bogue, from Which? Computing, said: "Software bugs are par the course for newly released programs, and operating systems are no exception. Unless you like downloading patches and updates, we recommend waiting a year." The home edition of Windows 7 is available in the UK for £79.99 until 1 January. After that it will cost £99.99.

Yahoo 3Q profit soars despite 12 pct revenue drop

Yahoo Inc. may finally be pulling out of a three-year slump that cast aside two CEOs and spurred a cost-costing spree that laid off about 2,000 workers. The purge is the main reason Yahoo's third-quarter profit more than tripled from last year to soar past analysts' relatively low expectations for the troubled Internet company. But the results released Tuesday also showed Yahoo's revenue fell by at least 12 percent for the third consecutive quarter. The revenue rut means Yahoo still has a long way to go on its comeback trail. Analysts, though, believe Yahoo should be able to boost its ad sales - the main source of its revenue - as long as the U.S. economy continues to heal and marketers funnel more of their budgets to the Web. Carol Bartz, Yahoo's third chief executive since June 2007, indicated she believes the worst is over in a prepared statement. "We had a solid third quarter that signals our major businesses have stabilized," she said. The Sunnyvale-based earned $186 million, or 13 cents a share, in the July-September quarter, compared with $54 million, or 4 cents a share, at the same time last year. The average analyst estimate among analysts polled by Thomson Reuters was 7 cents per share. Revenue for the period fell 12 percent $1.58 billion, barely an improvement from the first six months of the year when revenue dropped by 13 percent. Boy feared floating away in homemade balloon found

This was the headline tonight. About a child trap on a flying balloon.

A 6-year-old boy was found hiding in a cardboard box in his family's garage Thursday after being feared aboard a homemade helium balloon that hurtled 50 miles through the sky on live television.

The discovery marked a bizarre end to a saga that started when the giant silvery balloon floated away from the family's yard Thursday morning, sparking a frantic rescue operation that involved military helicopters and briefly halted some departures from Denver International Airport.

Then, more than two hours after the balloon gently touched down in a field with no sign of the boy, Sheriff Jim Alderden turned to reporters during a news conference, gave a thumbs up and said 6-year-old Falcon Heene was at his house.

"Apparently he's been there the whole time," he said.

The confusion over whether the boy was in the balloon arose as the family tinkered with the craft Thursday and Falcon's father scolded him for getting inside a compartment. He said Falcon's brother saw him inside the compartment and that's why they mistakenly thought he was aboard the balloon when it launched.

But the boy had fled to the garage, climbing a pole into the rafters and hiding in a cardboard box, at some point after the scolding and was never in the balloon during its two-hour, 50-mile journey through two counties. "I yelled at him. I'm really sorry I yelled at him," Richard Heene said, choking up and hugging Falcon to him during a news conference.
